Abstract

Generation Z, commonly referred to as Gen Z, represents a digitally connected and increasingly influential consumer segment whose purchasing decisions are shaped not only by functional product attributes but also by emotional experiences and relationships with brands. This study investigates the impact of Generation Z customers' emotional engagement on brand loyalty among Indian consumers across different industries. The research focuses on understanding how emotional attachment, identification with brands, trust, perceived authenticity, and meaningful brand experiences influence consumers' willingness to remain loyal to a brand. In an environment characterized by intense competition, rapid technological change, social media influence, and numerous alternatives, developing strong emotional connections with Generation Z has become increasingly important for organizations seeking sustainable customer relationships. The study proposes that higher levels of emotional engagement are positively associated with stronger brand loyalty among Generation Z consumers. A quantitative research approach can be employed, using a structured questionnaire administered to Generation Z consumers in India. The proposed research model examines emotional engagement as the independent variable and brand loyalty as the dependent variable. The findings are expected to provide insights for marketers and brand managers regarding the importance of emotionally engaging Generation Z consumers through authentic communication, personalized experiences, social and digital interactions, and values that resonate with their expectations. The study may contribute to the growing literature on consumer-brand relationships by providing an Indian perspective on the relationship between emotional engagement and brand loyalty across diverse product and service categories.
