Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The International Journal of Education, Society and Policy (IJESP) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal follows the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all stakeholders to adhere to ethical publishing practices.
Ethical Standards
All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must comply with internationally accepted ethical standards.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to IJESP must ensure that:
- The work is original and has not been published elsewhere
- All sources are properly cited and acknowledged
- The manuscript is free from plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification
- All authors have made a significant contribution to the research
- The manuscript is not under consideration in another journal
Authors must also:
- Disclose any conflicts of interest
- Provide accurate data and methodology
- Obtain necessary ethical approvals (if applicable)
- Clearly disclose the use of Generative AI tools, if used
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Making fair and unbiased decisions based on academic merit
- Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
- Avoiding conflicts of interest
- Ensuring a transparent and ethical peer review process
- Taking appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest
- Identify relevant published work not cited by the authors
- Report any suspected ethical issues or misconduct
Plagiarism Policy
IJESP has a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism.
- All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software
- Similarity index must be below 15%
- Any form of plagiarism (including self-plagiarism) will lead to rejection
Data Fabrication and Falsification
The journal strictly prohibits:
- Fabrication of data
- Manipulation of results
- Misrepresentation of findings
Any such misconduct will result in immediate rejection and possible blacklisting.
Duplicate and Redundant Publication
- Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals is strictly prohibited
- Duplicate publication or salami slicing will lead to rejection
Confidentiality
All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.
Editors and reviewers must not disclose or use unpublished information for personal advantage.
Conflict of Interest
All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that may influence their work.
Retraction Policy
The journal will retract published articles in cases of:
- Proven ethical misconduct
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Plagiarism
- Duplicate publication
Retraction notices will be clearly linked to the original article.
Corrections and Errata
- Minor errors will be corrected through errata or corrigenda
- Major errors affecting validity may lead to retraction
Handling Misconduct
IJESP follows COPE guidelines for handling ethical issues.
Steps include:
